Full-Time Assistant to Board Secretary

Job Description

To stay abreast of legislative and corporate governance developments; provide ongoing support to the Board Secretary, Board, various Committees including internal stakeholders, on matters of ethics and good governance

To work with the Board Secretary in ensuring that the organisation is adopting best practices in corporate governance

To assist the Board Secretary to drive compliance with company Constitution and all other applicable legislation

To coordinate meetings for the various governance structures including the timeous distribution of all supporting documentation/packs required for the preparation of the meetings

To assist with the co-ordination of the Board annual Strategic Planning Session

To attend Board and sub-committee meetings and prepare minutes

To communicate Board decisions/resolutions, monitor the implementation thereof and provide on-going feedback

To procure training for Board/Committees’ as and when required

Job Requirements

Relevant and appropriate qualification (NQF 7) degree Valid Driver’s Licence Minimum three years’ administrative experience Experience in a SETA environment is highly desirable An understanding of the public sector and the Seta environment is highly desirable Excellent communication, Writing and reporting Organising and Executing Attention to detail Knowledge of relevant legislation and compliance environment including the Skills Development Act, the Skills Development Levies Act, the NQF Act, PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, Seta Constitution and other related regulations Good people skills – relating, networking, adapting, coping Negotiation and leadership skills Gathering, presenting and communicating information A bachelor degree in Business management or Diploma in business management Certificate in Paralegal and if registered with a Chartered Secretaries body 3 - 5 years relevant experience in an administrative role Experience in the Seta environment advantageous and Application of procedures relating to Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
